Intrauterine insemination (IUI) Treatment is a process to conceive a baby when sperms are unable to reach eggs present in Fallopian Tube

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a fertility treatment of placing processed sperms inside a woman’s uterus at the time of ovulation. The idea of IUI is to increase the number of sperm that reach the egg in the fallopian tubes and hence, increase the chance of fertilization.

Since insemination occurs during ovulation, it takes approximately two weeks after the procedure to determine if the treatment is successful after a positive pregnancy test.

What is the process of IUI?

  • Natural cycle IUI, when the follicle is ready to ovulate i.e. 18 mm in ultrasound and 24 hours after hCG (trigger).
  • FSH stimulated cycle IUI, followed by HCG (trigger).
  • IUI donor sperms.
How successful are IUI treatments?
While pregnancy can happen, the success rate depends on the blockage's location on the blocked tube. When the blockage is closest to the ovary, the success rate of IUI is 11.7%. When the blockage is closest to the uterus, the success rate is as high as 38.1%.

The immune system of women finds that bleeding is an “open wound”, and treats it the same way, resulting in scarring, in a process same as the healing after a skin cut. By the time, accumulated scar tissues cause adhesions...
